I'm excited to announce that Slow Servers is live! Up and running in the Neutron datacenter in Spokane, Washington (USA.)
Though it may not look like much, it's been a lot of work getting to this point.
Slow Servers, no doubt, isn't the best host for everyone. There's a lot of other good options out there. Vultr, DigitalOcean, Incognet, ARPNetworks, OpenBSD.Amsterdam, and IRCNow, to name a few.
Just a one man show for the forseeable future. Lots more to do to improve the service. Automation is possible, but emails aren't the worst thing, for the time being, if you want to launch a server. But Slow Servers' focus is unique, and maybe more relevant to some. As far as I know, it could be the only (paid?) host with a Gemini presence.
I'm hoping to get Slow Servers to at least break even, then hopefully make enough of a profit to be worth the time and extra driving to Spokane. Neutron is a great datacenter (in a historic building!) but it's almost a two hour drive in the winter. Crossing my fingers that things don't break!
I just have one VM host, Prometheus, up and running right now. I am trying to get more servers ready to stack but have had some bizarre setbacks.
I'll be moving some more of my own servers to Prometheus over the next while. But this content is coming to you right from Spokane, on my secondhand gear.
