Slow Servers: Hosts / Bragi

A picture of Bragi.

Basically a twin of Odin, but a different heatsink (this one has a fan,) a 200W PSU, and a blower instead of a dual/quad fan setup.

Unlike the blower on spare, this one sounds healthy and seems to use less power than the dual/quad fan setup.

This one has the heatsink with a CPU fan. I did quite a bit of testing to determine if just the CPU fan could keep it cool. At normal datacenter temperatures, maybe when under a full load, but if temperatures are elevated it does not. I actually found the same power draw running both the blower and the CPU fan, plus some level of redundancy.

Heatsink sourcing has been tricky for me, but so far this one seems promising and is at a good price point.

Hardware

Supermicro short depth 1U chassis (CSE-512), 200W 80+ Gold powersupply, and motherboard.

Power usage

Slightly lower than Odin, which I did not get final figures for.
